After getting home, I decided to be a bit more observant. My family has quite a bit of western influence, but are still very Japanese. They have western type rooms and a western dining/TV room. However, there are some tatami rooms (one of which, I'm in), tea all the time, lots of rice/Japanese cooking. I guess you could say they're house is western, but they're Japanese.
Also, the Japanese version of Food Network is amazing.
Yesterday, me and my mom and sister went to a used book store, where I bought the "Another" manga, and the "Fate/Stay Night" manga. I wish I could understand what I'm reading.
I helped make curry too (all I did was cut potatoes and peel onions), which we had for diner when my host brother had a group of friends come over for a party and fireworks. I THINK it was for me, but I don't wanna be conceited and say it was for sure.
My host mom had everyone do introductions in English. It was kinda interesting to see how nervous they got when this challenge came up, especially since I understand the feeling. When speaking a learned language to a native, you worry that something you say might be wrong, so you get REALLY nervous. It's easier when you have to use it (Like with me and my host family), but it's hard when you COULD be speaking your own language and are made to speak another.
Today, I went to a mall. I tried my hand at real Taiko (the game) and a claw game. I came close to winning an Azusa Nakano figure. But nope. Then I went to the electronics store next door, when I found a Vocaloid CD and had to buy it. It was calling my name!
Tomorrow, I go to another host family for a week since mine will be out of town. It kinda sucks that I'll be somewhere else for the start of school, but oh well. It's only the first day. I'll be back the evening of September 2nd I think. I'm excited for school to start :3
